Prakash is an open access, peer-reviewed journal published by Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College under copyright, and hosted online in eternity. Each article, accepted after peer review, is made freely available online immediately upon publication. Publication of Prakash has been panned to be launched on the auspicious occasion of 60th Foundation day of Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College on 7th August, 2022. There is no charge for submitting a paper to the journal. Journal of Mechanical Engineering: Prakash (JMEP) publishes original research articles as well as review articles in all areas of mechanical engineering.

Peer review policy

Once a manuscript is submitted online, the manuscript is checked by our editorial office to confirm that it is appropriate to endure the usual peer review process. Subsequently, the manuscript is transferred to an appropriate editor based on the theme of the manuscript. Each manuscript will be scrutinized by an editor who is not from the same institute of the manuscript’s authors.

If the editor finds that the submitted manuscript is of adequate worth, he should consign the manuscript to at least three external reviewers for peer-review who make comments on the appropriateness of the articles for publication.

After getting the reports from all reviewers, the editor can make one of the following recommendations:

Major Revision


If the Editor recommends “Accept”, the manuscript is accepted for publication.

Prakash aims to promote to give praise those who share their idea and is exposed to proposals from all areas of Mechanical Science and Engineering, including illustrations and analysis of big and small data, from individuals, single labs and foremost consortiums. 
Manuscripts must create a unique contribution, but are not measured by their distinguished significance, prominence or impact. 
Countenance the publication of researches that might not be compatible for traditional journals, and award appreciation to those who may not succeed for authorship on outdated papers.

Publication Frequency

The Journal of Mechanical Engineering: Prakash (JMEP) publishes articles incessantly, i.e. articles are published online as soon as they are available (peer-reviewed and copy-edited). The Journal accumulates them into archival issues (two issues per year), and volume (one per year).
